Amitabh Bachchan tweeted late on Wednesday night, "T 1130 -FAKE !! FAKE !! FAKE !!! APPALLED AND ANGERED BY THIS ILLEGAL ACT ON ME .. PUTTING IT UP NOW, DO READ AND SEE AND CONDEMN .. !!!"
Quick to react to the outrage of the veteran actor, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi tweeted: "Agree with @SrBachchan. The author of the fake video should take action immediately and apologize to Amitabh ji."
The video was uploaded from a YouTube account named Jitega Bharat.
Amitabh writes that video is a fake one, an edited version of his year-old-video for Lead India campaign. The fake video is being run as the actor's endorsement of Modi as the PM.
Bachchan adds, "Somebody has made a fake video by using my voice and text of what I spoke in the original, and falsely and mischievously, interspersed it with visuals which indicate a campaign for the promotion of the Hon Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Narendra Modi !!
Even after the video was removed from Jitega Bharat account, it could be found on other channels on You Tube.
Big B further writes, "I wish to state that this is an illegal act, inviting strong action, one that I am appalled by, and one that has no concurrence from me at all. I have brought this to the notice of the concerned authorities, and asked my Digital Team to find out its origin so that we can initiate action against the perpetrator. This is a blatant misuse and infringement of the Copyright Act, and needs to be condemned by all those that become a part of this platform.Infuriated and angered !!"
Following Bachchan's strong protest online, a music composer from Rajkot has admitted to having uploaded it on YouTube and has apologised.
Utpal Jivrajani, a musician, has claimed responsibility for uploading the video on YouTube but he denied being the brain behind its creation. "I have nothing to do with this video. I just got it on WhatsApp from one of the many groups I am associated with and when I found it interesting I uploaded it," Jivrajani told PTI.
"On August 15, I received this video of Mr Amitabh Bachchan and I found it very interesting, so I uploaded it. But when I realised that it has enraged him and our chief minister Narendra Modi, I have apologised to both of them and now I have deleted it from YouTube," he said.
He said since his music album 'Gujarati Shakira' and 'Gujarati Ganganam' became popular he has been included in various groups active on WhatsApp. Jivrajani said he is in no way aligned to either BJP or Congress politically.
After the video was removed, the actor wrote on Facebook, "FB 308 -Thank you all for your understanding and immediate response. It is not what the purpose of the video is meant to convey. I am non political and have been since I left politics, but what is appalling is how the misuse of my voice has been done. And I shall take the strongest action against this person, whose ID has been found .. go to my Twitter handle and see .. love."
The Brown Brumby: "the bhakts mistook Mr Bacchan's support for Gujarat wildlife as his support for Modi. I agree, it's easy to get confuse between the two."
@make_itpossible said "Amitabh Bachchan's clarification on Gujarat ad is welcome. Good he too got the first hand experience of beguiled Modi & his troop."
@oongalbaaz: " I won't be surprised, if #TeamFeku uploads a fake video of Sardar Patel or Swami Vivekanand, praising Narendra Modi and his fake works ;)"
@pchoudhary64: "One more fekugiri of Feku -> Big B slams fake video, says he did not endorse Modi"
