Telugu actor, Lakhnawi chaat and ‘must-have mask’ message
South Indian star Jagapathi Babu, currently shooting in Lucknow for Rajinikanth starrer Annaatthe, took time off to savour the famous Lakhnawi ‘chaat’ at Hazratganj. However, the Sye Raa Narsimha Reddy actor also used the occasion to convey the importance of following the Covid protocol.
As he stepped out of his car at Hazratganj, Babu spotted that the chaat seller was not wearing a mask!
“He picked up a mask from the car’s dashboard and handed it over to the vendor with a tip that the Covid threat isn’t over and for one’s safety as well as that of others it was important that masks and gloves be worn,” says film’s local line-producer Eiqbal Jaafri.
After this, Babu enjoyed paani-ke-batashey, tikki and matar.
“He has been itching to taste the famous ‘chaat’ of Lucknow. During a break from the film’s shoot underway at the La Martiniere College, Babu went out in the get up of the character he is playing. In real life he only keeps a moustache but his character in the film sports a beard, and he went out in the same look,” Jaafri says.
The film is being shot in Lucknow since July 28 and the schedule is expected to be over by end August.
Currently, Keerthy Suresh, Abhimanyu Singh and few others are also in the state capital for film shoot. “Rajini sir had just one day schedule here which he wrapped 10 days back. Prakash Raj also completed his schedule. The shoot is being done all across the city. After Muharram we move to the old city location for the final leg of the shooting,” adds Jaafri. The film that also has actors Meena, Khushbu and Nayantara is written and directed by Siruthai Siva.
This is Rajinikant’s second film in Lucknow. In 2018 he shot for Petta. Babu also shot for Kannada film Roberrt in Varanasi in 2018 but wasn’t present during the film’s Lucknow shoot.
