After roping in actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as the face of their brand, Swiss luxury watchmaker Longines PrimaLuna has invited designer Ritu Kumar to Moscow for the first solo show of an Indian designer in the Russian capital.

“They said they wanted an Indian designer and could connect with what we do. Until now only Parisian designers were invited. Indian designs are influencing global fashion,” says Kumar.

The collection includes archival gowns and bridal attire. “The coats have a very Indian essence. There’re some with street scene paintings by me and some mythological images by [artist] Jayshree Burman, that’ve been digitally printed on satin and quilted,” she said.

Russian models will walk the ramp in the show on March 11 at which ten new watches, inspired by Indian maharajas and palaces, will be unveiled.
