Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga and more: Celebs lead the short cut way

Forget those updos, Hollywood glamour girls are going short for big ticket events.
Those beauty pageant-esque updos are not red carpet staples anymore. This is the season of going short! The Duchess of Cambridge went for a snippety, shorter do last year, and even our Bollywood beauties jumped on to the short cut bandwagon.
With the award season underway in planet Hollywood, a spurt of bobs, lobs (long bobs) and wobs (wavy bobs) are creating beauty news at major red carpet events.

At the recently held British Academy Film Awards in London and the Grammys in Los Angeles, the short hair do made a stylish entry. From Taylor Swift’s Anna Wintour-ish sharp bob and Adele and Kaley Cuoco’s wob, to Carrie Underwood’s slick, swept back lob — the inspiration is ample for those who are thinking of making the cut.

If you’re seeking some more inspiration, Lady Gaga’s Marilyn Monroe-inspired old-school platinum bob from last month’s Golden Globes can give you some beautilicious food for thought.

No short cut to glamour
While your asymmetric bob or a bed-head wob might be a statement enough, if you’re heading out for a glamour-high event, crank up the styling. “Accessorising is the key. A pearl-encrusted vintage hair comb or a singular crystal-studded pin can add glamour to your short cut,” suggests beauty expert Aashmeen Munjaal.

Girls, it’s also the season to experiment with colour. From hair colour chalks (for temporary colour) to balayage ombrés — you can go for a stacked bob playing with multiple hues for a three dimensional look. And, if you get bored of the short do, go the red-carpet way and tap into a faux bob.

“The temp bob is an industry trick done by using a hair band. Remember, maintaining short cuts are easy and the lob is for those who don’t want to go very short,” says expert Ishika Taneja.
