The internet was on a roll on Thursday with England failing to live up to the expectations and promises in the FIFA World Cup 2018, crashing out of the tournament in the semi-final against Croatia.

England lost to an inspired Croatian team 2-1 despite taking a lead as early as in the fifth minute, when a Kieran Trippier free kick landed right into the Croatian goal, sending their fans in frenzy.

However, Croatia continued to showcase why they are backed by many as they did not give up, with Ivan Perisic scoring an equaliser in the 68th minute, followed by a superb match-winning strike from Mario Mandzukic in the extra time.

It was more than a heartbreak for England’s fans and supporters, as they truly believed that the team under Harry Kane — highest goal-scorer this World Cup — has the potential to bring the trophy home.

Playing in their first semi-final in last 28 years, England started off promisingly but their confidence was seen diminishing as the match progressed.

The Three Lions had a wave of their fans supporting them with the punchline ‘It’s Coming Home’, but unfortunately for them, it came to bite back after their loss.

England also lost to Belgium in their final group game, and they take on the Red Devils in the match for the World Cup third place on Saturday.
