Accused Suraj Sehrawat - whose father Devinder Sehrawat runs a fleet of 1,000 taxis - is not only out on bail, the Gurgaon Police Wednesday missed the deadline to file the chargesheet.

Kshama Shetye and cabbie Sanjay Gulati died when a BMW driven by Suraj crashed into their car near IFFCO Chowk Metro station on May 5.

Her parents and husband Shailesh were seriously injured. Suraj surrendered only after HT highlighted the laxity in the police probe.

"I was surprised the judge didn't turn up (on Wednesday) and November 8 was fixed as the next date. Three SHOs have been shifted from the case. Every new officer says it will take time to go through the documents," said Kshama's NRI brother Rakesh Chopra, who is fighting the case.

Shailesh said it was "depressing the case had been delayed by three months".

The family said Suraj was booked under a bailable offence of rash and negligent driving causing death and couldn't produce his driving licence.

Gurgaon DCP (east) Maheshwar Dayal said he'd get the chargesheet ready within a week. The delay, he claimed, didn't matter much as the accused had got bail.
