The emergency was declared at 10:39 am for IndiGo’s Visakhapatnam to Delhi flight 6E 579. The aircraft was a Boeing 737, and the flight landed at 10:54 am.

There were about 161 passengers on board, and all were taken care of by the airline and the Delhi International Airport operations team, an official statement said.

IndiGo said in a statement that a technical snag was detected shortly before landing, which led to a priority landing.

“As a precautionary step and in accordance with the standard operating procedure, the pilots requested priority landing and the aircraft arrived safely at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi,” the spokesperson said.

The airlines also assured that all relevant authorities were informed and the aircraft is now undergoing necessary checks and maintenance.
