Tamil Nadu law minister R Nirmal Kumar on Friday alleged that DMK MP Kanimozhi’s presence in the Lok Sabha Speaker’s tea party proved that the party was pursuing a pact with the BJP.

Kanimozhi attended the customary tea party hosted by Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla in New Delhi on Thursday even as the Congress, Trinamool Congress and Samajwadi Party skipped it.

“Just as DMK provided major recognition to the BJP in Tamil Nadu back in 2001, in order to protect their assets and save their family from all legal cases, it appears they are ready to form a direct alliance,” Kumar told reporters.

Responding to the comments, DMK MLA Markandayan GV said, “The wolf does not need to shed crocodile tears for the sheep which got caught in the rain.” BJP‘s state spokesperson Narayanan Thirupathy also dismissed the claims.
