Murder convict Anand Mohan’s son wants to meet victim’s family: ‘If allowed…’
Anand Mohan Singh was pronounced a death sentence in 2007 for the murder of the 1985-batch IAS officer G Krishnaiah.
As gangster-turned-politician Anand Mohan Singh walked out of the Saharsa jail on Thursday, his son Chetan Anand said that he wants to meet the family of the slain IAS officer - who was murdered by his father. “We want to meet his family if allowed…we can do it today itself,” Anand told news agency ANI.

Anand Mohan was pronounced a death sentence in 2007 for the murder of the 1985-batch IAS officer G Krishnaiah. However, a year later, the sentence was changed to life imprisonment by Patna high court.
On April 24, the Bihar government issued a notification for the release of Anand Mohan and 26 other prisoners - which has received a massive backlash from the opposition and other sections of society. The notification said that the decision was taken after the Bihar state sentence remission council meeting which took place on April 20. During the meeting, the government removed the clause from the Bihar Prison Manual which stated that “anyone found guilty of killing a government official will not be given the benefit of remission ever.”
The gangster received the news of his release while he was attending his son Chetan Anand's engagement ceremony in Patna. According to reports, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, his deputy Tejashwi Yadav and JD(U) chief Lalan Singh were among the leaders present at the engagement ceremony.
Meanwhile, the slain IAS officer's family said that the gangster's release is “unfair”.
“It's disheartening for us that Anand Mohan Singh has been released from jail today. The government should reconsider this decision. I request Nitish Kumar ji to give a second thought to this decision. With this decision, his govt has set a wrong example. It is unfair not just to a family but to the whole nation. We will appeal against this decision,” the murdered officer's daughter told ANI.
