Telangana folk singer Veda Saichand dies at 39
The 39-year-old popular folk singer of Telangana and BRS leader Veda Saichand died of a heart attack at a private hospital in Hyderabad on Thursday

Popular folk singer of Telangana and Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader Veda Saichand died of a severe heart attack at a private hospital in Hyderabad in the early hours of Thursday, his family members said.
He was 39 and is survived by his wife, a daughter and a son.
Saichand, who is also the chairman of Telangana State Warehouse Corporation, along with his family members went to his native place at Karukonda of Nagarkurnool district on Wednesday evening.
“Around midnight, he complained of chest pain and was immediately shifted to a private hospital at Nagarkarnool. As his condition deteriorated, the family members brought him to Care Hospital at Gachibowli where the doctors declared him dead,” a statement from the BRS, quoting the family, said.
Saichand was born at Amarchinta village of Wanaparthy district on September 20, 1984. He had been actively participating in the Telangana movement since his college days in Osmania University as a folk singer. “During the movement, he ignited the Telangana spirit among the people with his song and dance. After the formation of Telangana state, he joined the BRS and had played an active role in the party,” the BRS statement said.
In December 2021, Saichand was appointed as the Chairman of the Telangana State Warehouse Corporation and have been serving in the office since then. “Yet, at every public meeting of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and his party leaders, he used to enthral the audiences with his songs,” the statement said.
Expressing shock over the demise of Saichand, the chief minister said the singer’s role in the culturation movement as part of Telangana statehood agitation was invaluable. “Telangana society lost a great singer and artiste. He ignited the Telangana spirit during the movement and thereafter, spread the message of development through his songs,” said.
In the afternoon, KCR visited the residence of Saichand at Gurramguda and paid floral tributes to the departed soul. He consoled his wife Rajini and other family members, offering his deepest sympathy and all the support required for the family.
Earlier, BRS working president and Minister KT Rama Rao paid floral tributes to Saichand at his residence and consoled the bereaved family members. “Saichand was a great artiste, who worked actively during the Telangana movement. He inspired youth against committing suicide to achieve statehood,” KTR recalled.
KCR’s daughter and MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha, state finance minister T Harish Rao and several other ministers, MLAs and party leaders visited Saichand’s residence and paid homage to the departed leader.
