Anshu, daughter of Rajpati Devi of Salon in Rae Bareli, was admitted to Kamala Nehru Memorial Hospital (KNMH) in Prayagraj on the instructions of Priyanka Gandhi, who met the family during campaigning in the (Rae Bareli) district.
Rajpati had met and narrated her plight to the Congress general secretary, who ensured that the girl got proper treatment at KNMH. However, the child’s condition continued to deteriorate. Doctors advised her parents to move her to another hospital. It was then that Anshu’s parents contacted Priyanka Gandhi again.
Gandhi immediately called Congress leader Rajeev Shukla, who was in Prayagraj on Friday to campaign for party candidate Yogesh Shukla. Rajeev Shukla rushed to KNMH, along with Hardik Patel and Mohammad Azharuddin, to meet the patient’s family. Under the observation of Dr Jai Singh, the girl was taken to AIIMS in Rajeev Shukla’s six-seater charter plane. Shukla sent the child’s parents, Azharuddin and Patel to Delhi while he later left for Delhi by train.
