Rohtak horror: 10-year-old girl raped by stepfather, found pregnant

It came to light when the victim’s mother, a migrant labourer from Bihar, took her to the doctor.

In yet another shocking incident in Rohtak district of Haryana, a 10-year-old girl was found pregnant after being raped allegedly by her stepfather. The girl was admitted to the local Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) where doctors confirmed her pregnancy on Friday.

The incident came to light when the victim’s mother, a migrant labourer from Bihar, took her to the doctor for a checkup and found her to be five-month pregnant. She then learnt that her husband had been raping her since a long time and threatening her.

A case was registered and the man arrested by the police.

Members of the district child welfare committee visited the girl at the PGIMS, where members Neelam Ahuja and Uma Nehra said arrangements would be made for counselling of the girl by an expert so that she can overcome the mental trauma. Uma Nehra said financial help as well as social security cover would be provided to the girl as well as her younger siblings.
