Two sisters drown in drain during heavy rain in Dehradun
According to the police, the three-year-old girl was swept into the overflowing drain during the downpour and became trapped beneath a ramp built over it.
Two sisters, aged three and seven, drowned after the elder sibling tried to rescue the younger one from a swollen drain during heavy rain in Dehradun's Clement Town area on Thursday, police said.

The incident took place near the Durga Temple in the Nai Basti area.
According to the police, the three-year-old girl was swept into the overflowing drain during the downpour and became trapped beneath a ramp built over it.
Her elder sister stepped into the drain in an attempt to rescue her but also got trapped under the structure.
Locals managed to pull both girls out from beneath the ramp, but by then they had already drowned. The deceased were identified as Sonakshi (3) and Lakshmi (7).
The girls' mother, Reena Kumari, told police that the family is originally from Khagaria in Bihar. She and her husband work as daily wage labourers and live in a rented house in the area.
