Anyone, who has grown up in a small town or city and moved to a bigger one later, has surely encountered this one annoying question: Where are you from?
It is fairly easy to talk about your hometown to people with decent geographical knowledge but there are some who look for specifics like popular landmarks, history or food habits associated with that particular region or state.
A new meme on Twitter has perfect replies to such questions. The format is simple. You pose the dreaded question and after unsuccessfully explaining where you grew up, you try to wind up the discussion and vent out your frustration, but with sarcasm.
According to knowyourmeme.com, an “online encyclopedia for memes”, the earliest known example of the format appeared on one Twitter user @JayyWavve’s timeline in October last year. But, the format saw a resurgence in May to become a crowdsourced thread about people sharing their turn-offs.
Desi Twitter was quick to lap up the trend to churn out hilarious memes.
Can you relate to any of these replies while explaining your roots?
