Eleven Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) members were on Friday suspended from Andhra Pradesh Assembly for two days.
The TRS members were obstructing the House proceedings over the controversial Polavaram irrigation project.
As soon as the House assembled for the day, the placard wielding and slogan shouting TRS members rushed to the well demanding that the project be scrapped.
The adjournment motion moved by them on the issue was disallowed by Speaker KR Suresh Reddy, who advised them to raise the issue during debate on the motion of thanks to the Governor's address.
As the furore continued with TRS members shouting slogans and frequently storming the well, Finance and Legislative Affairs Minister K Rosaiah moved a motion under rule 300 seeking suspension of the TRS members.
Following this the Speaker announced suspension of 11 TRS members for two days, and summoned marshals to whisk them away from the House.
TRS, which pulled out of the Congress-led Government in Andhra Pradesh in July last year, has been opposing the Rs 13,500-crore Polavaram project on the ground that it was detrimental to the interests of Telangana region.
