Bina Ramani arrested in Goa
BINA RAMANI, a key witness in the Jessica Lall murder case, was arrested in Goa on Wednesday, two days after a Delhi court issued a non-bailable warrant against her in a cheating case. The cheating case related to the submission of forged documents by Ramani in order to obtain a licence for running an eating house at Mehrauli in south Delhi.
BINA RAMANI, a key witness in the Jessica Lall murder case, was arrested in Goa on Wednesday, two days after a Delhi court issued a non-bailable warrant against her in a cheating case. The cheating case related to the submission of forged documents by Ramani in order to obtain a licence for running an eating house at Mehrauli in south Delhi.
The NBW was issued against Ramani on Monday after police told the court that Ramani was not cooperating in the investigation. Police had alleged that despite repeated messages left at her home and office since August 1, Ramani had refused to meet them. A police team had left for Goa on Tuesday after they came to know of her presence there. "We wanted to get her this time," said a police officer. "She had the option of approaching a higher court, which could have ordered a stay. So we had very little time to act."
