THE STATE BJP on Monday demanded immediate dismissal of the Mulayam-led UP Government following rise in incidents of communal violence.
Agitated BJP workers gathered at the party office and held a demonstration to protest against the killing of OP Gupta and Raman Gupta, the two local party leaders in Aligarh communal clash on Sunday. They blocked Vidhan Sabha Marg for some time and burnt an effigy of the Chief Minister alleging that he was allowing the killing of Hindus to strengthen his Muslim vote bank. The demonstration was organised by the Lucknow unit of the party.
Later, the BJP spokesman told reporters that the party had demanded removal of Kanpur zone IG Rizwan Ahmad, who was hand in glove with the rioters during the last riots in Aligarh. The communal situation of Aligarh would worsen if the Government failed to shift the IG, he said.
Meanwhile, the state BJP working Committee meeting will be held in Lucknow on June 20 to discuss the strategy for the coming Vidhan Sabha elections.
