The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that successfully managed a motley alliance of 22 parties to run the government has failed to act as a mature opposition once it was voted out of power. BJP's conduct in both Houses of Parliament following its defeat in the 2004 electoral hustling clearly exposes the shock and confusion prevailing among its rank and file.

Having had some creditable achievements to its credit during its six-year rule, the nation expected the BJP to act more responsibly as an opposition and take up issues confronting the people. However, what one witnessed from day one was protest against Sonia's foreign origin and subsequently the issue of tainted ministers following issue of warrants against Shibu Soren of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) a minister and partner of UPA. Disruption of Parliament became the order of the day.
