THE BARKATULLAH University has decided to constitute a three-member committee to outline the process of admission to B Ed course, mainly in the private colleges affiliated to the university. The decision was taken at a meeting held at the university to discuss various aspects vis-à-vis the new academic session 2006-07.

With the School Education Department deciding that the Professional Education Board (PEB) would conduct the Pre-B Ed exams only for the 628 seats in government colleges, the university has decided to chalk out its own process to ensure that the admission process in the private colleges is transparent and merit-based. The three-member committee is expected to submit
a detailed report following which the rules might be finalised.

The university has been facing a lot of problems regarding discrepancies and irregularities pertaining to private B Ed colleges. The committee has been constituted to ensure that all such problems do not recur in future.

During the meeting held today, it was also decided that additional development fees would be collected from the students of University Institute of Technology (UIT) and Pharmacy Department.

Also, it was decided that a small amount in the form of campus development fees would be collected from every student along with the examination fees. The matter of restructuring of departments was also discussed but no agreement on this could be reached.
