The deceased identified as Diwakar, a first year B.Com student of Bharat Education Society in Bangalore, was done to death by the three in the age group of 28-60 years over a quarrel relating to the breaking of a window pane of their relative's house while playing "gully cricket" Thursday night, police said.

"Both Diwakar and Shankara reside in Bande Nallasandra in Bangalore district and are neighbours. Shankara had a heated argument with Diwakar over the issue that occurred 15 days ago and was somehow pacified", the sources said.

He however continued to bear a grudge against Diwakar and instigated relatives (the accused) to harass him. Unable to bear the harassment, Diwakar went to Shankara's house Thursday night. A verbal duel ensued resulting in Diwakar attacking Shankara with a sickle. Enraged over this, his relatives in turn attacked Diwakar with sickle and later crushed his head with a stone.
