Cong 'misusing' CBI: CPI(M)

Rallying behind its Kerala state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan allegedly involved in the SNC Lavalin graft case, the CPI-M accused the Congress of misusing the CBI for "narrow" political gains.

Rallying behind its Kerala state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan allegedly involved in the SNC Lavalin graft case, the CPI-M on saturday accused the Congress of misusing the CBI for "narrow" political gains.

The CBI's move to prosecute Vijayan in the SNC-Lavalin case was part of the 'overall conspiracy' against the CPI-M, he said, while addressing a public meeting organised by the party here this evening.

"The Congress leadership has not learnt any lesson from the past. Time and again, they are using the institutions of the state for their narrow ends", Karat said.

He said he was confident the people of Kerala would see through the "conspiracy and defeat the desgins of the party's enemies".
