SUDDENLY COPS have accelerated trace- main-accused efforts in the Mehar case and rushed a team to Pithoragarh where Sachin Pahari belongs.

But, the sudden rush after a long spell of dilly-dallying smells a rat.

Meanwhile, the cops have traced Sachin’s calls which corroborated his close links with gangster KD Singh and latter’s mentor—-the don-turned MLA ‘supporting’ the government.

Hazratganj police were hunting for him anxiously after they corroborated evidence that Sachin had opened fire on Mehar Bhargava leaving her critically injured on February 28.

Soon after collecting complete details of Sachin’s native village and the police station known as ‘Thal’, two police teams were dispatched for Pitahuragarh on Thursday evening.

Senior cops have contacted their counterparts in Uttaranchal seeking assistance in tracing the absconding accused. The police team would camp there to launch a massive hunt at all those places where possibility of Sachin’s stay was traced.

The cops though had taken the notice for the property attachment to paste it at Sachin’s home later they have been asked to keep a close vigil on his home initially.

Sources said the call details indicated that Sachin had left his hideout in Jaunpur following directives of his mentors recently. The call details and the conversation between his mentors also indicated that Sachin had moved for his native place. The sources further revealed that Sachin probably could get a bail in a case in Uttaranchal cancelled and surrender in court.

As he would be sent to jail, the Lucknow police then had no option left but to seek a warrant B from the Uttaranchal court to bring Sachin back to Lucknow jail. Fearing stern action against him Sachin was advised by his mentors to surrender in an Uttaranchal court.

Meanwhile, sources in police said the fresh investigation into the case also indicated that Sachin’s associate Amit Singh could be Vijay Menon’s brother Sanjay. The cops said that Sanjay could have forged his name as Amit. The cops were now trying to arrange Sanjay’s photograph to corroborate his identity from Mehar Bhargava’s driver who is complainant and the witness to the shootout incident.
