Five unforgettable moments
Here are some of the moments that made Sports in 2009.
mera No. 1!

Despite all the money in the world and the biggest individual stars, India did not produce world-beating teams, they alleged. Well, the Indians did not just win consistently home and away, they went to the next level, reaching the No. 1 spot in the Test rankings.
Keeper of faith
Without Subrata Paul’s saves in the penalty shoot-out, India wouldn't have retained the Nehru Cup. Ironically, India's best goalie was without a club for a while after being off-loaded by East Bengal.
Baljit Singh’s eye injury
Considered the best goalie in Asia, Baljit Singh took a hit on his right eye while training in Pune for the 2010 World Cup. The accident did extensive damage to his cornea.
Somdev’s chennai jig
Nobody gave him a chance at the Chennai Open. The lanky right-hander from Tripura got a wild card and tamed Carlos Moya of Spain and then much higher-ranked Ivo Carlovic of Croatia (No 24).
shock exit
The kings of T20 two years ago faced a three-run loss to England that consigned the side to a second straight Super Eights defeat and with no chance of reaching the semifinals of the T20 World Cup.
