Ashish, along with the other top gymnasts, had been training on the competitive apparatus for the past four weeks to prepare for the World Championships at Tokyo in October. Since the Sports Authority of India is yet to start the process of procurement of safety pit and allied equipment, players have to manage with bare minimum apparatus, said a SAI official.

However, national coach, DK Rathore, said Ashish's injury wasn't a worrying factor. "It's nothing serious."
