Jadeja to lead in Jaipur warm-up ODI
Ajay Jadeja, whose five-year match fixing related ban ended in December, has been appointed captain of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) President's XI to play England in a warm-up one-day game in Jaipur on Saturday.
Jadeja, who shifted to Rajasthan from Delhi in the 2005-06 season and led the side in the Ranji Trophy national championship, was banned in December 2000 for his alleged involvement in the match-fixing case in April that year.
This will be his first match against an international side since the ban came into force.
According to a release from the Indian cricket board's executive secretary Ratnakar Shetty, the 17-member team also comprises opener Gautam Gambhir, left-handed batsman Suresh Raina, wicket-keeper Parthiv Patel, pacers Vikram Rajvir Singh and Rudra Pratap Singh and off-spinner Ramesh Powar.
There are six players from Rajasthan, including their captain Jadeja, and one is from Saurashtra. The names of the 10 others were sent by the national selection committee.
"We sent the names of 10 players while the RCA picked up the rest of the players," selection committee chairman Kiran More told IANS on the fourth day of the third and final India-England Test at the Wankhede Stadium.
The limited overs match will be played at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium.
