An army jawan opened fire tonight killing four of his colleagues before turning the gun on himself at an army camp on the outskirt of Jammu city.
The jawan took out his gun after a verbal duel between two groups of army men over accommodation at a camp at Miransahib and opened fire killing the four on the spot before he committed suicide, Brigade Commander Brig Manjit Singh said. He said the jawans had come to Miransahib from Kargil yesterday for temporary duty. A court of inquiry has been ordered into the incident, Singh added.
Meanwhile, two army personnel, including a Major, were killed in an ambush by militants in Rajouri today. The army personnel were attacked by the ultras when they were returning from an operation in Sanjote area of the district. The exchange of fire between the two sides lasted for an hour, official sources said.
