The entire war of turf over the madarsa has taken political overtones with Khushro accusing Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Surendra Mohan Agarwal for his plight. He blamed Agarwal for trying to divide the Muslim community. He said it was because of the Samajwadi Party leader that the local administration was not implementing the GO and allowing Sharif to ‘illegitimately’ control the madarsa.
Talking to newsmen here on Friday, Khushro said, “If Agarwal thinks that the Shaher Qazi Mufti Manzoor Ahmad Mazahari can assure him Muslim votes, then he is mistaken.”
“Surendra Mohan Agarwal’s clout is proving to be too powerful even for the orders of the CM,” Khushro said. He added the matter would be taken up with chairman of the All India Personal Law Board Rabi Hasan Nadvi and the CM to expose Agarwal. Taking on the SP leader, Khushro stated a case of dacoity had been lodged at the Pheelkhana police station against some persons at the behest of Agarwal.
The ‘accused’ has always been SP members but Surendra Mohan Agarwal is a turn coat. He was once an active member of the Bharatiya Janta Party and had taken part in ‘kar sewa’,” remarked Khushro.
On his battle for the madarsa post, Khushro said a poster campaign would be carried out in the city against Shaher Qazi Mufti Manzoor Ahmad Mazahari and Imam of the Idgah Qari Mohammed Ilahi for verifying fake papers submitted at the office of Deputy Registrar of Societies. Efforts were being made to get a fatwa issued against them.
He also pointed out the orders of Chandra Prakash made it clear that the papers submitted at the office of the Deputy Registrar of Societies for the renewal of registration of the society that runs the madarsa were fake.
“ Annual salary of madarsa principal Mufti Manzoor Ahmad Mazahari is Rs 60,000 but the annual budget of the madarsa is Rs 29,000,” said Khushro.
Khushro said Mufti Manzoor Ahmad Mazahari, Qari Mohammed Ilahi, Aminul Islam and Abdul Momin had signed the fake papers and of them two were Imam.
Khushro demanded a probe into the matter. Prominent among those present on the occasion included Iqhlaq Chisthi, Dr Ishrat Ali Siddiqui and Hazi Shaukat Ali and others.
