Reports reaching in Kohima said repeated calls made to the fire station after fire broke out at a building remained unanswered and when the fire tender arrived the house was almost razed down on Wednesday.

The irate public pelted stones and hit it with sticks damaging the windshield and parts of the vehicle, police said.

Mokokchong deputy commissioner and other officials brought the situation under control and the fire was doused.
