Moser Baer emerged winner on all parameters like eco-innovation, preservation of natural resources, eco-habitation, competitiveness in environment management and excellence in environment protection, a company statement issued here said.
"Moser Baer has not only set high-quality standards for its products, but is equally conscious about issues like environment, health and safety," said S Rajalingham, head of the second largest plant of Moser Baer.
Headquartered in New Delhi, Moser Baer employs over 4,000 people and has several manufacturing facilities in the suburbs of New Delhi. It services its customers through six marketing offices and subsidiaries in India, the US, Europe and Japan.
JVS Export bags the international supplier of the year 2004 award
JVS Export, a Madurai-based textile manufacturer, said on Friday it has bagged the international supplier of the year 2004 award from global retail chain major Wal-Mart.
JVS Export received the award for successfully implementing processes that resulted in the better management of inventories and tracking of sales by item, store, distribution centres and goods in transit.
The company exports kitchen textile products such as dish cloths and wash cloths to Wal-Mart stores in Brazil, Canada, Mexico, the US, Britain and Japan since 1998, said a statement issued here.
The sourcing partnership with Wal-Mart has resulted in the creation of more than 6,000 new jobs in Karur and Madurai in cotton ginning, spinning, weaving, processing, and packaging and logistics movement over the past five years.
JVS Export's association with Wal-Mart commenced in 1998 when it began supplying small packs of kitchen textiles as test programmes. Its business grew to $12.5 million in 2004 with a 15-20 percent growth for the last four years.
Motherson buys German firm for $2.4 million
Motherson Sumi Systems Ltd said Friday that the company has signed an agreement to acquire a running plastic injection moulding company in Germany for $2.4 million.
Under the pact, Kunststofftechnik Gmbh will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Motherson Sumi Systems after the completion of the acquisition process, a statement issued to the Bombay Stock Exchange said.
The German firm manufactures and assembles plastic injection moulding components to suppliers who cater to major automobile manufacturers in Europe, the company statement added.
The German company has an existing turnover of nearly $11 million per annum. It also manufactures special plastic components.
The settlement between Motherson Sumi and the insolvency administrator envisages the investment towards equity and payment to its creditors, spread over a period of three years.
Philips unveils dust resistant DVD player
Philips India Limited, a subsidiary of the Netherlands-based Royal Philips Electronics, Friday announced the introduction of dust resistant DVD player.
Philips DVP 5100K, priced at Rs.3,999, ($90) has a unique slot loader that wipes the CD surface preventing entry of dust flakes, a company statement said, adding the model is 37 mm slim.
"The Philips hallmark of quality, innovation and technology comes through once again in the Philips DVP 5100K," said Gautam Dalal, brand manager for audio marketing at Philips India.
"Keeping the Indian consumer in mind, the pricing has been carefully decided. All aspects of this player are worth talking about. The dust resistant slot loader makes this one a sure winner," he added.
