Music fest in memory of Rehmat Ali Khan

USTAD HAFIZ Ali Khan Sangeet Academy is organizing the Ustad Rehmat Ali Khan memorial music festival in remembrance of eminent sarod player late Ustad Rehmat Ali Khan on March 24 at National Institute for Technical Teachers’ Training & Research (NITTTR) auditorium Bhopal.

Eminent dhrupad exponents Ramakant Gundecha, Umakant Gundecha and Akhilesh Gundecha, sitarist Avnendra Shivlikar and 13-
year old vocalist from Jaipur Mohammad Aman will perform at the festival.

Ustad Zafar Mohammad (Jaipur) and Salim Allahwale (Bhopal) will accompany them on tabla. Ustad Rehmat Ali Khan, in whose memory the festival is being organized, belonged to the sixth generation of Gwalior Gharana and was the son and disciple of legendry Sarod player Ustad Hafiz Ali Khan. He was widely acknowledged, loved and respected by his contemporaries in the music fraternity.

The music festival is being supported by Raj Bhasha department of NITTTR, M P Madhyam, Bank of Baroda, State Bank of India and Hindustan Times, Bhopal.
