State secretary of the party Dr CP Tripathi said here that people were dying from starvation in eastern UP and the economically weak people had been left at the mercy of God. He alleged that the government had failed to ensure drinking water supply to all the people. Dr Tripathi hinted the party would contest the upcoming Assembly election and had decided to enroll five lakh party members in last the next three months. He claimed the party base in UP had extended and they were in touch with the Communists and like-minded parties to forge an alliance with them.
He claimed that the Nationalist Congress Party would play a vital role in safeguarding the interests of the people of UP based in Maharashtra. Tripathi said if the State government did not improve its functioning, the NCP would gherao the State Assembly next month.
