Tired of receiving friend's request from your best friend's mom? Scared your mom might see your picture in that LBD which you posted on Facebook? Can't stop reminiscing the good ol' days when Facebook was a place where teens could meet and stalk crushes without any intervention by pesky parents. Fret not! Enter CollegeOnly. A social networking site meant exclusively for college kids is here and it's a lot more tech savvy too.
Fulfilling a need for more specialized social networks, Josh Weinstein, the creator of CollegeOnly told mashable, “Facebook has changed — for the better — but its original use case is currently unserved, as college students are less likely to upload photos or post what they are up to with parents and potential employers looking on. As such, we realized that the opportunity to ‘connect student bodies’ wasn’t just romantic, but social.”Would you believe that Weinstein himself is not allowed on the site? Believe it. If you're not a college student, you cannot even sign in and try it out.
Here's how you can join the site. If you have a university e-mail address, then you can easily join the site. There is no concept of friend's requests. Everyone is listed on the same network though you can block people. The users can create their own profile and add information like what dorm they live in, which school or college they study in.
Thankfully you can upload multiple pictures and these pictures will only be visible on the site. So boys and girls, go crazy.
The posting feature of CollegeOnly is rather interesting. Users can post updates anonymously. Isn't that a risky proposition? But Weinstein assures that the site will be monitored. The site also boasts of features like video chat which Facebook still lacks.
On CollegeOnly, you can easily find out which college parties you should give a miss and which ones to attend.
Close-knit social network is the in-thing. Remember we told you about a dating site meant for the 'ugly' only!
