Parents of children enrolled in DPS, East Delhi, literally besieged Delhi Public School Society Chairman Narendra Kumar’s office in East of Kailash on Monday. Their grouse: Five years after the school’s inception, there is no building in east Delhi as was initially promised.
Over 800 students study in the school from classes nursery to VII. Classes are held in the afternoon shift at DPS, Mathura Road. “It is also not recognised by the Delhi government.
The school never made this clear initially. Those of us who want to withdraw their children cannot do so as the school cannot issue transfer certificates (TC),” said Monica Madaan, a parent.
DPS, Mathura Road, principal MI Hussain, who is officiating in the absence of a regular principal, when contacted, said, “We are waiting for DDA to allot land. The directorate of education had even issued a sponsorship letter, but we are yet to get land.” The last principal, S Malhotra, reportedly resigned last week.
Who is to blame?
• 800 students travel long distances to DPS, Mathura Road
• Can’t change school as they cannot get TCs
• DPS authorities blame delay on DDA
