PM accepts Sonia's resignation as NAC chief

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday accepted the resignation of Congress President Sonia Gandhi as Chairperson of the National Advisory Council (NAC).

Earlier, Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee had accepted Ms Gandhi's resignation as an MP.

Ms Gandhi's move had come in the wake of the opposition demand for her disqualification as an MP for holding an office of profit in the form of NAC chief.
