PMO sends instructions to city admn

IN THE wake of communal flare-ups, the Prime Minister Office (PMO) has issued a long list of instructions to the district administration and senior police officials. The list includes posting of policemen in the sensitive areas and establishment of Fast Track Courts for settlement of disputes. In a letter sent by the Home Department, the district administration was asked for an immediate response regarding the instructions issued by the PMO.

IN THE wake of communal flare-ups, the Prime Minister Office (PMO) has issued a long list of instructions to the district administration and senior police officials. The list includes posting of policemen in the sensitive areas and establishment of Fast Track Courts for settlement of disputes.

In a letter sent by the Home Department, the district administration was asked for an immediate response regarding the instructions issued by the PMO. The Home Department asked the senior police officials of the communally sensitive cities like Kanpur, Lucknow and Meerut to take extra precautions in their cities.

Detailed instructions issued by the PMO include taking extra precautions on the posting of cops in the communally sensitive areas, settlement of dispute through special courts and establishment of extra Fast Track Courts.

Viewing the urgency of the matter, DIG, Kanpur Zone Daljeet Singh has issued letters along with the copy of PMO’s instructions to the COs of Kanpur, asking them for immediate action. Sources said after the intervention of the PMO, the district administration and police officials would take some urgent steps to maintain law and order in the city. Meanwhile, the district administration has decided to impose Section 144 in the city to maintain law and order situation during festive days like Dussehra, Ramzan, Eid, Diwali and elections to the local bodies.
