Rahul Gandhi on Saturday stood in a queue with other Congress MPs to congratulate his mother and party president Sonia Gandhi on her election as the leader of the parliamentary group.

Rahul, wearing a white kurta and pajama, waited patiently as others thronged around Gandhi presenting her flowers and wishing her luck and was among the last to greet her.

The mother affectionately smiled as Rahul, who has emerged as a popular young Congress leader, congratulated her and shook hands with her.

The Central Hall of Parliament, where the Congress Parliamentary Party meeting took place, erupted in loud applause as the mother and son came together.

Many Congress MPs were seen shaking hands with Rahul and garlanding him before proceeding to greet his mother.
