Reschedule 2 IPL matches: Bangalore top cop

Even as Tamil Nadu was unanimous in its opposition to Sri Lankans participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) starting April 3, Bangalore police commissioner said he won't be able to provide security cover for cricket matches in view of assembly polls on May 5. HT reports.

Even as Tamil Nadu was unanimous in its opposition to Sri Lankans participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) starting April 3, Bangalore police commissioner said he won't be able to provide security cover for cricket matches in view of assembly polls on May 5.

"I have asked them to reschedule two matches to be played in the city on May 4 and 6. As there will be heavy duty for policemen from May 4 till May 8 (date of announcement of election results), we won't be able to provide foolproof security," said city's top cop BG Jyothiprakash Mirji.

He, however, added there was no problem in holding six other IPL matches in the city as per the schedule.
