Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, Prof Rajan Harshe, vice-chancellor of the Allahabad University, said that the country would always remember Tandon with gratitude. His sacrifices and selfless service would always guide the young generation. Prof Harshe highlighted the ideals that guided Tandon in his personal and public life and related several instances illustrating his human qualities, openness and simplicity along with his firm commitment to principles and values.

Justice (rtd) Girdhar Malviya said the young generation must endeavour to derive the lesson of simple living and high thinking as practiced by Tandon in his life. He was a great humanist and had high respect for humanity.

Presiding over the function, Sunit Vyas, vice-president of the society, called for a thorough change in the political scenario of the country in the light of political honesty, uprightness and intergrity held high by Rajarshi Tandon all through his life. He regretted that Hindi had not been able to get its due place which it deserved. Tandon always linked Hindi with national honour.
