Styris' career started with a bang when he cracked a century and a fifty on debut against West Indies in Grenada two years ago. He became the seventh New Zealander to do so.

Styris has a vast experience of eight years in domestic cricket, and ever since he came into the International arena, he has continued to exceed expectations.

When required Styris can show his real mettle and pound all kinds of bowling attacks as he demonstrated with his superb 141 off just 125 balls against Sri Lanka during the 2003 World Cup.

Styris' one-day debut came a couple of years before that against India but failed to impress, scoring just one run.

He is useful medium pace bowler. Though he does not have a good bowling record in Tests, he has proved himself well in the shorter version of the game.

He has over 83 one-day wickets including a national best haul of 6-25 which also came against the West Indies.
