When he’s not with the Knight Riders, it’s still work-work-work for Shah Rukh Khan.
Excerpts from a chat:
You’re playing yourself in your home production BillooBarber. How’s it?
It’s fun. It’s a great story. Irrfan (Khan) is Billoo and it’s about him and his family. Kareena Kapoor and I have to do our parts.
Who’s playing Irrfan Khan’s wife?
Lara (Dutta) has accepted and has also shot for the film.
Didn’t Vidya Balan and Ameesha Patel refuse to do the role?
Vidya didn’t want to play the role.. since it’s a mother’s role.Neither did Ameesha.
Even Paresh Rawal dropped out, didn’t he?
I don’t know. I read this interview in which he said that the money offered was on the lower side. (Smiles) So, I’m sorry.
Rumour is that Aditya Chopra’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is inspired by My Fair Lady.
My Fair Lady????
No, no. It’s an original story. I’m glad that Adi came to me with this brilliant and absolutely original script.
A while ago, news was that Aditya Chopra wouldn’t make his next film with Shah Rukh Khan.
I don’t know. You write those things, so you tell me howsuch news circulates.
In a recent interview, Saif Ali Khan said that he has dropped the idea of re-making Madhumati since he thought the climax of Om Shanti Om was on the same lines.
His dropping or not dropping the idea of remaking Madhumati is his decision but the entire climax of OSO was not on the lines of Madhumati. We had a couple of ideas for the climax.
I just remembered one shot of Madhumati from my childhood, Farah and Shirish also remembered that scene. There’s this smile which Vyjayanthimala gives.. she’s the ghost.. our film was sort of like that. The ghost walking up the staircase with a smile was a tribute."
