CBS Paramount Television has for the first time, decided to put up Star Trek memorabilia from their archives at Christie's auction house this fall, following the 40th anniversary celebration of their franchisee.
More than 1000 props and memorabilia from all six TV series and the ten feature films of Star Trek will be up for bid, which includes a replica of Captain James T Kirk's original chair, a miniature version of the starship Enterprise and a Romulan Warbird ship.
"These are real cultural artifacts," Contactmusic quoted Christie's director of special collections Cathy Elkies, as saying about the auction.
And while the chair is expected to go for between $10,000 to 15,000, the actual miniature USS Enterprise used as a visual effect in the movie, Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country, could fetch upwards of $25,000.
The collection goes on tour this week in Germany, and will be up for auction on October 5-7 at Christie's in New York.
