Two Americans detained in Nagaland

The two citizens did not possess the Restricted Area Permit (RAP) needed by foreigners to visit the northeastern state.

Two US citizens were detained and prevented from entering Nagaland, as they did not possess the Restricted Area Permit (RAP) needed by foreigners to visit the northeastern state, police said on Wednesday.

The two women were detained on Tuesday in a hotel at Dimapur when they duo arrived there at the invitation of "some Naga friends", they said.

Police said the women would be sent back from Dimapur by on Thursday.

Indian citizens have to procure an Inner Line Permit to visit Nagaland while a RAP is mandatory for foreigners travelling to the state.
