UP Govt orders inquiry into Agra violence

Uttar Pradesh government ordered an inquiry into the violence in Agra following the death of four youths in an accident during a religious procession.

Uttar Pradesh government ordered an inquiry into the violence in Agra following the death of four youths in an accident during a religious procession after which curfew was imposed in parts of the Taj city.

Principal Secretary (Home) JN Chamber told reporters in Lucknow the inquiry would be conducted by the Commissioner of Agra division who has been asked to submit his report within two weeks.

Chamber said the situation in Agra was fully under control and jawans of Rapid Action Force and PAC were patrolling curfew-bound areas.

No untoward incidents have been reported from anywhere in the curfew-bound areas, he said.
