An officer of the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a train in Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki district.
The mutilated body of Hridesh Rawat, 48, an assistant accounts officer with the LDA, was found near the Safedabad crossing, around 30 km from here, in the wee hours of Tuesday, the police said.
"Prima facie it is a case of suicide. We have sent the body for autopsy," said PK Srivastava, district police spokesperson.
Rawat, a resident Lucknow, was missing since Monday morning. His younger brother Brijesh Kumar registered a missing person's complaint at Gomti Nagar police station on Tuesday.
Rawat's car was parked close to the railway track, and his mobile phone and other belongings were found inside the car, the police said.
He was reportedly suffering from depression and appeared severely stressed in the past few days. No suicide note was recovered from him.
