IPL 2017: Suresh Raina fan disrupts Gujarat Lions vs Delhi Daredevils encounter

During the Gujarat Lions and Delhi Daredevils match in the Indian Premier League in Kanpur one young fan made it to the ground to touch the feet of his hero Suresh Raina.

Fans in the industrial town of Kanpur are infamous for their daring attempts during a cricket match, not giving a care for the security.

This turned into reality once again during the Gujarat Lions and Delhi Daredevils match in the Indian Premier League on Wednesday night when one young fan made it to the ground to touch the feet of his local hero and Gujarat Lions skipper Suresh Raina.

Before the security official could react, the fan shook hands with Raina and on being convinced by the skipper, he adhered to leave the field of play.

“I wanted to congratulate him for his superb fielding at slips, which led to the departure of Rishabh Pant,” said Rinku, the fan, who admitted that his intentions were very clear from the start of the match.

“I tried meeting Raina at the team hotel but couldn’t succeed despite making a number of attempts. I had my first interaction with him a few years ago during a Ranji Trophy match. Even today when I shook hands with him, I tried to remind him of our meeting in the Ranji game.”

After his meeting with Raina on Wednesday, Rinku came out of the ground while waving to the fans. “I had told my friends of such an attempt today.”
