Michelin’s hotel guide has the hospitality industry all keyed up. Small players hold their own against the big chains. Guests finally have fair, clear ratings

If you are travelling to a new city, how do you find a good hotel to stay in? Until a year ago, the short answer was: You take your chances and leave it to fate.

Michelin just launched its guide to the best UK hotels recently.

Many small hotels run by the family-owned Firmdale, such as Ham Yard, feature in Michelin’s UK guide.

The Haymarket, another Firmdale property, has also earned Michelin keys.

Anonymous inspectors checked into UK hotels such as Lucknam Park and rated them.

The World’s 50 Best Hotels list includes only one from India, the Sujan Jawai leopard camp.
