Congress President Rahul Gandhi formally launched the party’s Lok Sabha election 2019 campaign in Kerala today when heladdressed a huge rally of workers at Kozhikode.
The Congress chief attended a series of programmes, beginning with the “fishermen’s parliament” at Triprayar in Thrissur.
The national election will be held in seven rounds from 11 April and the results will be announced on May 23, the Election Commission said on Sunday. Voting will be held across India on April 11, April 19, April 23, April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19.
PDA announces candidate for lone LS seat in Nagaland
The ruling People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) in Nagaland Thursday announced its candidate for the lone Lok Sabha seat in the state.
Tokheho Yepthomi, the sitting Lok Sabha member and a leader of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), was also give the party ticket at a programme here.

Defend democracy, secularism to fight BJP: CPI-M
The CPI-M on Thursday found fault with “many opposition parties” for not putting forth “an effective alternative platform which defends democracy and secularism without any compromise” in their fight against the BJP.
An editorial in the CPI-M journal “People’s Democracy” said the April-May battle for the Lok Sabha “is going to be the most consequential election in the history of independent India.
“Much is at stake,” the Communist Party of India-Marxist said. “This election will have a bearing on the future of the secular-democratic Republic as enshrined in the Constitution.
‘People eager to give another term to Modi’: Naik
Union minister and North Goa Lok Sabha member Shripad Naik on Thursday said people are happy with the country’s development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and “eager” to give him another chance.
He said Modi would address a meeting in Goa before the Lok Sabha polls in the state’s two seats scheduled on April 23.
The BJP is yet to announce its candidates in Goa.
