ASMR videos such as precise makeup application or fork scratching on a microphone have been some of the most trending ones on YouTube. These videos offer a tingly, trance-like sensation and people often find them relaxing. Look up ASMR on Instagram and over 2,670,831 posts pull up.

It is probably the biggest YouTube trend you’ve heard of. The term was coined in 2010, and refers to a relaxing, often sedative sensation that begins on the scalp and moves down the body. It is also called as ‘brain massage’.

While soap cutting/slicing is self-explanatory, people are creating videos of hard, dry and soft soap being sliced through. Here, the ASMR pleasure comes from watching a bar of soap being sliced and from the sound of the knife gliding through it. It may seem super weird, but for some the sight and sound of soap being cut is oddly satisfying.

Some people prefer slicing through and some like to cut them into tiny shapes. And there are some that turn soap into powder. So, what happens to all this cut up soap? Many ASMR video makers recycle them to turn them into bars.

The last time a similar trend took over the internet was when people were slicing up bath bombs.
