According to Oshiwara police, the accused and the 21-year-old victim had been friends for months before Ketan decided to take their relationship to the next level. However, upon learning that he already had a girlfriend, the woman snapped all ties with him. The woman and the accused are small-time actors, and were colleagues before becoming friends. Both have done small roles in television serials.

Enraged by her rejection, Ketan made a fake Facebook profile in the woman’s name and uploaded multiple obscene pictures that were morphed using her images. The profile was active for a month until the victim learnt about it on October 18. Upon confronting, Ketan threatened the woman of circulating her MMS.

The woman immediately contacted the police and registered an FIR on October 21. Based on this electronic evidence, police traced Ketan’s whereabouts and arrested him. Cops said his motive behind the crime was to seek revenge and not blackmail the woman. Both Ketan and Rahul were booked under sections 354A, 509, 500, 419 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections if the IT Act .
