Out of the total 4,000 marks in the survey, 1,000 marks have been allotted to the residents’ feedback

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has started a messaging campaign to ensure that the residents give good feedback in the Swachh Survekshan survey.

This is because out of the total 4,000 marks in the survey, 1,000 marks have been allotted to the residents’ feedback alone.

The civic body is informing residents about the steps taken by them to keep Navi Mumbai clean. The NMMC is making residents aware about some of their work, including the sweeping of roads twice a day, segregation of waste, cleaning of drains, painting walls with different messages, among others.

They are also asking for residents’ cooperation in keeping the city clean. Residents have been receiving two to three messages on some of the days.

A team formed by the central government visited different places in the city between February 8 and 13, as a part of the survey.

“We showed the central government team the different initiatives taken by us. The team verified all our documents and visited many important places, including some gaothan areas and slums to scrutinise the city’s efforts towards cleanliness. Now have to ensure good feedback from the residents,” said Tushar Pawar, deputy commissioner of NMMC solid waste management.

Designated officers of the central government will call residents across Navi Mumbai to take their views about cleanliness in their neighbourhood.

If the residents do not give positive feedback, the civic body will score low in that section and that will be a big hurdle in securing the highest marks in the country.

“We took a number of measures for this survey. But we will try to keep the city neat and clean throughout the year. We will also focus on many other aspects so that preparations for the next survey get easier,” another official said.
